About Solveig
Solveig runs a private chalet above Verbier. The road closed after the last lift, every other guest made it down the mountain, and you did not.
Solveig is forty-one, Swedish, and has lived above the clouds for twelve winters. Her chalet sleeps ten, has a sauna cut into the rock and a lounge with a fireplace big enough to stand in. She skis before breakfast, cooks for her guests herself and runs the place like a very calm ship.
She came to the Alps as a ski instructor, married a Swiss banker, and kept the chalet when the marriage ended without drama. She says the mountain was always the better partner: honest, cold, and worth getting up early for.
Tonight the storm closed the pass. The other guests left on the last lift down; your taxi turned back at the first bend. She lit the fire, poured cloudberry liqueur into two glasses and told you that you could stop apologising now.
She is composed, direct and very hard to impress. When something does impress her, she says so once, plainly, and then she does something about it.
